Fresh Approaches to Finding Your Purpose in 2024

2024 - a year of purpose!

Are you thinking of declaring that 2024 will be the year you nail down your purpose?

It’s an impressive goal, but let’s look at what it really means.

Purpose is a Cyclical Process

Finding and aligning with your purpose is more like an ongoing journey than a one-time adventure.

For me, it's a cycle. At times, I feel the need to dive deep, reflect, sit in uncertainty, and make changes. Often, this cycle takes me out of my comfort zone and requires that I confront previously held beliefs and grow as a person.

After I do the work, I can take a breath and then ride the wave of alignment for a while. It’s not constant introspection and work for me, it’s about doing the work and then living in the new state until I reach a tipping point and need to open the hood once again and do a tune-up.

In my experience, it’s a 3-4 year cycle between purpose tune-ups.

When You’re Ready for a Tune-up

Each time you revisit purpose, you're meeting a new version of yourself. It's always fascinating to learn more about what makes you tick and see where the next chapter takes you.

If 2024 is the part of your cycle where you go deep, here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Go on a Nature Retreat: Spend quality time in nature, free from devices and distractions. This quiet time allows for deep introspection and learning while in peaceful surroundings.

  • Get to Know You Conversations: Engage in introspective 'getting to know you' questions, as if conversing with a new friend. This self-dialogue can reveal new insights and aspects of your personality.

  • Learn Something New: Embrace new experiences that push you out of your comfort zone. Traveling, learning a new skill, or starting a hobby can be enlightening and growth-inducing.

  • Build New Friendships: Actively seek to expand your social circle. The process of forming new friendships can uncover previously unseen facets of your character and beliefs.

  • Consult your Mirrors: Reach out to people who know you well and have seen you in various life situations. Their observations and feedback can highlight patterns and tendencies you may not recognize in yourself.

Remember, your purpose isn't a static destination. It's an ever-changing journey that reflects who you are at different stages of your life.

Embrace the process and enjoy the ride!
