More Than Just Homes: Using Personal Stories to Showcase Neighborhood Charm

As a real estate agent, you are the expert in your local area. You spend every day understanding trends, checking out the schools, and visiting businesses in the neighborhood. You have a solid understanding of how things will evolve in the future.

All of this adds up to one thing.

You are an incredible resource to your future clients and can offer them the inside scoop in a way that even local residents won’t be able to.

The key is to make your information easy to digest, memorable, and unique. The way to do that is by incorporating storytelling into the mix.

These 4 storytelling strategies give neighborhood content an extra element of relatability:

  • Instead of just linking the top restaurants and cafes, share a personal story of when you treated your son’s baseball team to ice cream cones at the local soda fountain after the championship game

  • Augment your list of the schools in the area by chatting with a teacher and sharing a few quotes about what makes the school and the community special.

  • Include statistics about population growth among young families, and make it personal by talking to someone who moved into the area in the past year (perhaps one of your past clients) and shining a spotlight on what has been fun about getting to know their new neighbors.

  • Make your section on transportation options fun by including a ‘day in the life’ of a walker, bicyclist, or transit user to show a variety of lifestyles.

Just like you want future clients to picture themselves in a particular home, you can help them visualize what it’s like to live in a new community by sharing real stories and creating a sense of connection - even before they decide to move in!
